Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA's) are wireless devices which work in conjunction with In-Building Panel Antenna (minimum 7dBi) and External Yagi Antenna (minimum 13dBi). If you have purchased a complete kit from Boston Amplifier the In-Building kits include Panel, Yagi Antenna, and complete mounting hardware.
 
 
Step 1: Location: Determine the location of the external antenna, internal antenna, and BDA taking into consideration the coaxial cable lengths of 50' and 25'. Also the BDA needs to be close to a 110 volt plug.

Step 2: Internal Panel Antenna: Mount the panel antenna on a wall pointing towards the area where you want to increase the cellular coverage.

Step 3: External Yagi Antenna: Mount the bracket and pole outside on the roof or side of the building. Then mount the Yagi antenna with the provided "U" bolts. Point the antenna towards the nearest cell site (if known) and away from the internal antenna.

Step 4: Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA): Mount the BDA close to a 110 volt plug.

Step 5: Antenna & Power Connections: DO NOT POWER UP THE BDA UNTIL ALL CABLES ARE CONNECTED TO THE ANTENNAS & BDA.

The Yagi antenna cable is connected to the "Antenna" connector of the BDA. The Panel antenna is connected to the "Cell Phone" connector of the BDA. Power cable is plugged below the "+12v/24v Power" label.

NOTE:
The BDA is an amplifier and needs signal from the cell site tower to have something to amplify. If your cell phone can register on your carrier’s system, you should have enough signal to amplify.

PRECAUTIONS ON INSTALLATION
 
Amplifier can be placed on floor – not on the carpet or on wooden floors. If necessary, place a double or quadruple folded household aluminum foil underneath the amplifier before placing on carpet or wooden floors. Keep away from moisture.
   
An AC Adapter is provided with the Amplifier. During power-up, the RED LED (Power “ON”) light shows that the unit is ON. Simultaneously the GREEN SST ® Light comes ON if both antennas have proper separation.
   
If GREEN SST ® light starts to blink RED, this means that the external and internal antennas are too close to each other and need to be moved further apart. Move the external antenna away from the internal antenna until you observe the Green SST ® Light is ON.
   
Do not turn the power “OFF” if the SST ® Red Light Blinks. It has automatic signal sensing technology, which will protect the unit from over heating and making the unit more efficient in performance.
